  • The Ballyshaners 42nd Alexandria St. Patrick’s Day Parade
    • join the fun at the 42nd Annual Ballyshaners Alexandria St. Patrick’s Day Parade! Kicking off at 12:15 p.m. with dignitaries, the parade features pipe bands, Irish dancers, and community groups, making it a must-see event—so arrive early and take advantage of public transportation!

    • When: Saturday March 1, 2025 starting at 12;15 pm

  • Living History at Ferry Farm 

    • Ferry Farm will be hosting an opening day of fun for everyone in the family. 

    • Watch a barrel trussing demonstration by Marshall Scheetz of Jamestown Cooperage in Williamsburg, VA. Learn about the traditional techniques he utilizes to create historically accurate barrels, buckets, and other products for use at historic sites around the region. Scheetz is in the process of creating barrels for Ferry Farm’s Cellar House. Participate in interactive activities with the 4-H Homesteading Club of Stafford County. These young living historians will be talking to and demonstrating their skills in traditional trades. You can even try your hand with their interactive activities too.

  • 6. Puerto Rician Bomba Percussion

    • Save the dates and join us to learn the fundamentals of Puerto Rican bomba percussion! Each class will include a new rhythm with the bomba instruments. This class will teach the popular rhythms of bomba such as sicá, cuembé, yubá, holandé and rulé. All ages welcome!

  • 7. Sunday Hike 

    • Gear up for a Sunday Hike filled with fun on the local trails alongside fellow dog lovers! Meet at the ODHS adoption center at 8:40 AM to be matched with your furry hiking partner who will hitch a ride with you to the trail! (For a more relaxed outing, be sure to check out our Saturday Stroll!).

  • 8. Taste through Time: Bread Talk 

    • While you enjoy the presentation, partake in a sampling of the bread for yourself. The kitchen will be open throughout the day, and entry is included with general admission fees. Visitors may reserve house tour tickets online or purchase on-site at the front desk. Event-only admission can be purchased on-site.
