The World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade
By Laura Carter
When most people think of St. Patrick’s Day parades, they envision long, grand processions with elaborate floats, marching bands, and thousands of spectators. But in the small town of Hot Springs, Arkansas, the world’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade stands as a charming and quirky exception. With a route measuring just 98 feet (30 meters), it’s not the length that makes this parade special—it’s the heart, the humor, and the unique community vibe that draws visitors year after year.
A Quirky Tradition
The Hot Springs St. Patrick’s Day Parade was first held in 2003, when the city decided to embrace the holiday with something a little out of the ordinary.
The parade’s route begins on Bridge Street, a narrow stretch of road in the heart of Hot Springs’ historic district. The event typically lasts just a few minutes, but it’s packed with local flavor, colorful costumes, and a sense of humor that sets it apart from larger, more traditional parades. As the smallest parade in the world, it has become a beloved tradition and a true highlight of Hot Springs’ St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
What to Expect at the Hot Springs St. Patrick’s Day Parade:
A Small but Merry Procession: While the parade may be short in length, it’s long on fun. Expect to see quirky floats, creative costumes, the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders, local celebrities, and perhaps even a few Irish-themed pets joining in on the fun.
Unique Participants: The parade has its own celebrity guest appearances. Over the years, well-known figures from pop culture, including actors and musicians, have made surprise appearances to participate in this fun-loving event. This year the Grand Marshal of the Parade is American Actress TV star, and New York Times Bestselling Author Valarie Bertinelli. Special guests for the parade also include live performances by Flavor Flav, and Feature the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders as special guests.

If you plan to join in the festivities of the world’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day parade that takes place on Monday March, 17, 2025 here are some tips to make the most of your visit:
Arrive Early: While the parade itself is brief, the streets around Bridge Street get crowded with spectators eager to catch the action. Arrive early to grab a good spot and soak in the atmosphere before the parade kicks off. As a Local I can assure you that the whole town will show up and show out.
Be Prepared for the Weather: March in Hot Springs can be unpredictable. Check the weather forecast before you head out, and make sure to dress in layers, as it could be chilly in the morning and warm up by midday. Bring a light jacket, especially if you're visiting early in the day.

Don’t be shy—throw on some green, deck yourself out in shamrocks, and even wear a funny hat or a leprechaun costume if you’re feeling extra festive. The more creative, the better! Stay Nearby: Hot Springs has a selection of cozy accommodations, from charming bed-and-breakfasts to historic hotels, and even lakefront stays. Staying close to downtown ensures you’re right in the heart of the action. Check out this historic hotel located Directly in the heart of Downtown. In an old Bath House. Plus, you can easily walk to all the events without having to worry about parking. In all honesty parking in downtown is an absolute pill ( and might get pricey) so I can recommend being ready to walk as much as possible,
Don’t Miss the After-Party: After the parade, head to one of Hot Springs' many Irish pubs or local bars for some live music and festive drinks. Be sure to check out the Copper Penny Pub right in the heart of Downtown. Many places offer special St. Patrick’s Day cocktails like green beer, Irish whiskey, or Guinness stout.
