Active Families Have a Headquarters at the Ron Rosner Family YMCA

Oct 18, 2021 06:00AM ● By Emily Freehling

The Ron Rosner Family YMCA in Spotsylvania County exists to serve its surrounding community. As many families return to routines this fall, the branch is here to support them with safe and convenient childcare options and exciting new fitness offerings. There’s never been a better time to join!

School-Age Child Care Serves Area Schools

The Rappahannock Area YMCA’s School-Age Childcare (SACC) program offers parents a safe and convenient option for their children to be cared for during the workday. In Spotsylvania County, the YMCA’s SACC program is now serving all 17 county schools across several convenient locations. SACC is also available in all 17 public schools in Stafford County.

Before school, SACC locations open at 6 a.m. Evening care runs until 6:30 p.m.

YMCA childcare is following all guidance from the CDC and Rappahannock Area Health District regarding preventing the spread of Covid-19. Children and teachers are all required to wear masks and maintain three feet of distance.

Children in the SACC program benefit from licensed teachers who lead enrichment activities that go beyond what can be fit into the school day. Science and art projects and daily physical activity and outdoor time create a safe and engaging environment for children to spend their afternoons, with time built in for homework as well.

While SACC is not limited to YMCA members, members do get a discount on the program. To see the latest rates, visit:

Expansion Packs State-of-the-Art Fitness Options

A new expansion wing is now fully online at the Rosner YMCA, and brings some exciting new fitness options to the region.

Level up your fitness with the MX4 Small Group Training program. This circuit-based program is designed to deliver a total-body workout in every session, helping build whole-body fitness. The MX4 facility includes a self-powered treadmill, rower, medicine balls, free weights, Matrix bike and more. Workouts build fitness with high-intensity bursts of exercise, giving you a better workout in a shorter period of time.

You’ll build strength, explosiveness and endurance in an atmosphere that feels like a personal training experience—and you won’t have time to get bored.

The new expansion also includes:

  • A new spin studio, with brand-new Matrix spin bikes that allow instructors to create varied and engaging workouts.
  • A yoga studio.
  • Two racquetball courts.
  • A classroom that can house a range of educational programs for the community
When the workout’s over, don’t forget about recovery. This fall, the Rosner Family YMCA will open new men’s and women’s locker rooms that include a sauna and steam room, as well as full shower facilities to get you ready to get back to your day.

Childcare While You Work Out

Parents can have peace of mind bringing their children to the Rosner Family YMCA while they work out. Our Kids’ Corner is open, following all CDC guidelines for Covid-19 and is a safe place to bring the kids during your workout. Older kids can also enjoy the Kids’ Gym, where they can get some physical activity of their own in our larger gymnasium space. The Rosner YMCA is a destination for healthy families this fall.
