Fiddlestix Halloween "SPOOKTACULAR"!  Oct 27. 3 - 5 pm. The UMW Philharmonic Orchestra presents a Fiddlestix Halloween "SPOOKTACULAR"! Treats on the Streets and Costume Stroll (NEW this year!). Oct 27 9am - 12pm. Gather for the costume stroll at Riverside Park at 9am. Scarecrows Are Coming! Scarecrows are invading Downtown Fredericksburg! Who is your favorite scarecrow Downtown? Vote! Ballots online and at participating businesses starting Oct 5th. The Great Pumpkin Fest. Select Weekends from Sep 22 - Oct 28. 12 - 5 pm. Join us at Kings Dominion for the ultimate fall festival, The Great Pumpkin Fest! Trunk or Treat. Oct 20 & 27. 5 pm. Includes a Pumpkin Patch for small children (ages 10 or under) a Magic Show from Kevin Owens; Face Painting; Costume contests for all ages (babies to adults); Costume Contest for pets; Car Decorating contest; trunk or treating and then stay to watch movies on the big screen! The Family movies will include the new movie Goosebumps 2 plus either Smallfoot or The House with a Clock in its Wall.... Screen 2 will feature the new horror movie Halloween (starring Jamie Lee Curtis) and The Nun as the second feature. Boo at the Zoo. Oct 19 - 21. 5:30 - 8:30 pm. With more than 40 not-so-spooky treat stations, animal demonstrations, keeper chats, and decorated trails, this event is frightfully fun for the whole family. New this year will be an entertainment stage with a DJ spinning Halloween favorites, musicians, and jugglers. Also, don't miss a themed hay maze and scarecrow field. Movie Night @ Hurkamp Park. Oct 20. 7 pm.Grab the family and a blanket for 2 movie showings. When: 7 pm: It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and 7:30 pm: E.T. Where: Hurkamp Park

Air and Scare. Oct 20. 12 - 5 pm. See the spooky side of air and space at our annual Halloween event! Arrive in costume for safe indoor trick-or-treating, creepy crafts, spooky science experiments, and other Halloween-themed activities. Cost: $15 for parking. 

One Eyed Zombie Terror Trail 5K. Oct 20. 4 - 6 pm. Grab your running gear, and prepare to run for your life. Chose to either be a survivor or a zombie as you navigate 5 kilometers of forest trails and roads, while negotiating obstacles. Zombies and survivors run on separate clocks, as the survivors get a 30 second head start and try to out run the living dead. Registration is $25 for both survivors and zombies. Haunted Trail @ Wilderness Resort. Oct 20 & 26. 7 - 10:30 pm. Includes face painting, games, lawn games, hayrides, outdoor Halloween movies and more! Halloween Harbor.  Oct 21. 12 - 2:30 pm. Grab the kids with their favorite costume and join National Harbor for “Trunk or Treat!” presented by DARCARS. Creatures of the Night Hike. Oct 26. 6:30 - 8:30 pm. 5yrs – Adult: Grab your costumes and walking shoes and join us at the park for a nighttime hike for the whole family. We’ll look and listen for nighttime critters as we seek out trail side treats before returning to hot chocolate, a tasty cup of dirt with worms and a story. Pre-registration required for everyone. (Kids must attend with paying adult.) Where: Motts Run Reservoir. Cost: $8 (residents/non-residents) or $30 Family of 4 (residents/non-residents). 

Halloween Bash @ Morais Vineyards. Oct 26. 6:30 - 10:30 pm. Taste testing games! There will be 10 different wines served and a variety of finger foods. Winners get a prize. Live music, swing dance lessons, psychics/tarot card readings. Where: Morais Vineyards, 11409 Marsh Rd, Bealeton.

Pumpkin Patch in the Pool. Oct 26. 6 - 8 pm. Who said pumpkins can't swim? Get your pumpkin from the pool, decorate it and after all your hard work, swim awhile! Pre-registration required. Halloween Campfire. Oct 26. 8 - 10 pm. Join us for a spooky evening while enjoying the crackle of a campfire and s'mores. Fun for the whole family. Massad YMCA Creepy Crawly Carnival. Oct 26 & 27. 7 - 9 pm. Halloween festivities will once again be at the Massad Y! Games, haunted house, wicked fairy tales haunted trail ride, obstacle course, hay maze, pumpkin carving & more! Carnival area with crafts, games, treats and dancing. Garden Glow. Oct 27 - Nov 11. 6 - 10 pm, Nightly. Brighten your nights this fall on a wondrous new journey through the Japanese Garden at Maymont. At the peak of fall colors, the garden will shine with dramatic light displays for an enchanting experience to delight families, couples and nature lovers of all ages. Admire colorful sparkles and shimmers within the cascading waterfall, stroll among towering trees that stand aglow, and marvel at the breathtaking illuminations of winding waterways, rolling hills, bridges and lanterns. A schedule of fun activities will be offered on various evenings at the Robins Nature & Visitor Center where guests arrive for transport to the garden. Haunting Halloween Madness. Oct 27. 6 - 10 pm. It’s a costume contest, music, food extravaganza. Benefits Louisa Humane Society. There will be pet and humane costume contests, auction items to bid on, raffles, and lots of fun. The “UFO Food Truck” will be on hand to supply “out of this world” food. “Reunion” will be providing the music and be in charge of the festivities on the dance floor. Cost: $20. Stratford After Dark. Oct 27. 4 - 8:30 pm. Come celebrate Halloween at Stratford Hall! This year children can visit the outbuildings surrounding the Great House to trick or treat! Hayrides will also be offered and will take guests around the Oval in front of the Great House. Fun seasonal crafts, fortune telling, face painting, and refreshments will be offered in the Visitor Center. Don’t forget to stop by our bonfire to warm up or to roast marshmallows! Ghost tours will be offered through the Great House! Go through the Great House with only your flashlight to light the way. During the tour your guide will share stories or haunted happenings and tragic tales. To secure your spot on a ghost tour we recommend pre-registering as these tours fill up fast! Oktoberfest. Oct 27. 11 am - 4 pm. Celebrate fall, nature’s grand finale, with Oktoberfest at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond! Join us for a day filled with live music, games and prizes, all included in Garden admission. 

Fall Party @ Wiggle Worms. Oct 27. 11 am - 9:30 pm. Join us for a day of fall fun! Crafts and snacks TBA. UMW Pumpkin Palooza. Oct 28. 1 - 4 pm. Community Outreach and Resources at the University of Mary Washington invites local children and their parents or guardians to our annual Pumpkin Palooza. Enjoy an afternoon of fall-themed crafts, games, and candy. The event will be held in the Chandler Ballroom inside the University Center, and we will also have trick-or-treat tours in the residence halls throughout the afternoon. Come in costume for a great time!

Halloween Happyfest Parade. Oct 28. Children and pets of all ages are welcome to wear a costume and join the Halloween Happyfest Parade in Old Town Warrenton. The line-up for the parade starts at 1:45pm with the parade beginning at 2pm. After the parade stop by participating businesses for trick-or-treating in Old Town. Where: Warrenton, Old Town

Fall Festival of Fun.  Oct 31. 12 - 4 pm. Helping Hands, Inc. is celebrating its 15th year of pediatric therapy excellence with a Fall Festival at our office on Halloween. This event is free for the whole family, and will have a variety of activities to keep kids entertained including a pumpkin ring toss, a fall photo booth, face painting, a bounce house obstacle course, a variety of fun sensory crafts and activities, and an on-site food truck! Whether your child has been a patient here or not, this event is open to you. Come help us celebrate! Our staff will be on site in costumes ready to celebrate, and children are welcome to dress up as well and give their Halloween costumes a trial run with us! *The only cost for this event is the cost to purchase from the food truck.* Where: 2049 Jefferson Davis Highway, Stafford. 540-657-1423

For new and expectant mothers in the Fredericksburg area, Postpartum Support Virginia stands as the help and support for women and their families who are experiencing postpartum depression. Founded in 2009 by Adrienne Griffen, Postpartum Support Virginia offers one-on-one support, free peer-led groups, a robust site of information including screening and diagnosis overviews, fact sheets, and training sessions.
