Apple Gala & Cider Festival @ Great Country Farms. Every weekend in Sep. We will celebrate the start of the apple picking and cider pressing season with tastings of this season’s apple wine and hard cider tastings. Also, watch apple butter being made, wagon rides, cider pressing demos/tastings, pick your apples, kids craft station, rope swings, pedal carts, corn maize and more! Where: 18780 Foggy Bottom Rd, Bluemont, VA. 

Port Royal's Charter Day: Fall Pirate Festival. POSTPONED UNTIL SEPT 22 10 am - 6 pm & Sep 23 1 - 6 pm. Port Royal's colonial and civil war history as well as their maritime history will be featured. Port Royal was a major port during colonial times. Vendors, live bands, costume contests! Family and children's activities will include Moon Bounce and old fashioned games. Pirate and period dress is encouraged! Where: The Town Green (419 King Street, Port Royal, VA 22535). Free admission/parking. Culpeper Harvest Days Farm Tour. Sep 15 & 16. 10 am - 4 pm. Enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and taste of Culpeper County on farms in the beautiful Blue Ridge foothills. This free event provides a wonderful educational experience and includes a variety of hands on activities and demonstrations. There will be 20 farms and related businesses on this year's tour. The tour, a self-guided driving experience, can be started at the Welcome Center located at Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises on Route 29. For more info, check out their Facebook page: 

2018 Wine & Oyster Festival. Sept 15, 16. CANCELED

FXBG Wine Festival. Sept 22 (11 am - 5 pm) & Sept 23 (1 - 5 pm). Enjoy an afternoon of wine tastings, live music, local artisans, specialty retailers, and unique food vendors. Church of the Messiah Fall Bazaar. Sept 22, 10 am - 3 pm (Raindate: Sept 29). An Outdoor Open Market with 70 vendors selling gifts, crafts, jewelry, food, and more! State Fair of VA. Sept 28 - Oct 7. Come celebrate the best of Virginia at the State Fair of Virginia, a 10-day event at the beautiful, pastoral setting of The Meadow Event Park. Since 1854, Virginians have celebrated community, agriculture, family, food and fun at this annual tradition. Whether it's for a prize-winning fresh apple pie or giant pumpkin, a first date or first time milking a cow, find your blue ribbon moment this year. Capital Ale House Oktoberfest. Sep 29, 11:30 am - 10 pm. Live music, traditional German fare, Bavarian dancers, local and German beer! Families are welcome to enjoy the celebrations. Kids can visit Kinderplatz, a kids area with giant inflatables, face painting, balloon animals and more! F'burg Fall Fairy Festival. Sep 29. 12 - 5 pm. We are calling all fairies, elves, wizards, trolls, hobbits, and gnomes to celebrate the coming of fall! All mystical creatures shall gather together for one last festival to celebrate the end of the summer and ready for the returning winter world. Our festival will include arts and crafts, games, vendors, and Celtic music. There will be a fairy house and fairy garden contest. There will be fairies and other nature spirit environments to explore as well as games to play. Where: Fredericksburg Fair Grounds, 2400 Airport Ave. 

Potomac Point Winery Annual Fall Festival. Sep 29. 11 am - 5 pm. Full of family fun including fall games (for adults & kids), shopping vendors, festive foods, grape stomping, guest wineries and live music! Feel free to order lunch from our Le Grand Cru bistro or purchase foods from local food trucks & different vendors. Where: Potomac Point Winery, Stafford. 

Fall Wine Festival & Sunset Tour. Oct 5 - 7, 6 - 9 pm. Enjoy live blues and spectacular views of the Potomac River while sampling wine from 17 Virginia wineries! Where: George Washington's Mt. Vernon, 3200 Mt. Vernon Memorial Hwy, Mount Vernon, VA 22121. 

Downtown F'burg Harvest Festival. Oct 6. 9 am- 1 pm. Pick and decorate a pumpkin from our mini pumpkin patch, select beautiful fall decor for your home, and participate in fun, kid-friendly activities! Where: Hurkamp Park, F'burg.

Fall Apple Festival. Oct 6 - 8. There will be loads of family oriented fun throughout the Columbus Day Weekend including hard cider, live music Saturday and Sunday, craft vendors, face painting, apple pie eating contest, press your own cider, apple cider donuts, fresh apples and pumpkins to purchase, and more! Stafford Family Fall Festival. Oct 13. 11 am - 4 pm. Artisans, hay rides, inflatables, festival food, children's activities, car show and our annual pumpkin derby & special musical entertainment. Where: Pratt Park, 120 River Rd, F'burg. Free! Rain or Shine! 

2018 Wine By The Lake Fall Festival. NEW DATE! Oct 13, 11 am - 5 pm. Come sample and purchase wines from 10+ wineries and cideries. Fall Festival @ Mountain Run Winery. Oct 13, 12 - 7 pm. Come out and enjoy some great Mountain Run wine and celebrate the harvest with us! Live music, vendors, food, lawn games. We have plenty to do for everyone (including the kiddos) so bring your lawn chairs and plan to stay awhile! Admission is free to the event and parking is $5! Annual Harvest Festival in Bowling Green. Oct 20, 9am - 4pm. Live music, Children’s activities include face painting, pumpkin painting, a petting zoo, and clown entertainment. Other activities include the car show and antique tractor show, antique alley, as well as food and craft vendors. 

Fredericksburg Fall Home & Craft Festival. Oct 20 (10 am - 6 pm & Oct 21 (11 am - 4 pm). At this home show and hand-made only arts & crafts festival, you will find premier creations from topnotch artisans that have traveled from all over the country to sell their wares. Also, seminars and DIY Workshops. Where: F'burg Expo Center. 

Fall Harvest Family Days @ Mt. Vernon. Oct 20 - 21, 9am - 5pm. Enjoy fall activities with the whole family at Mount Vernon! Take a horse-drawn wagon ride and play colonial games on the bowling green before heading to the Pioneer Farm to observe 18th-century demonstrations and greet General Washington. Find your way through a straw bale maze and listen to the Itinerant Band play colonial tunes. Sightseeing cruises will be free throughout the weekend. Dahlgren's Family Fall Festival. Oct 25, 6 - 8 pm. Pumpkin Patch, Carnival Games, Food, Inflatables, Pumpkin Carving & More! Open to all with base access! Where: Dahlgren Parade Field.

Oktoberfest @ Botanical Gardens. Oct 27. 11 am - 4 pm. Celebrate fall, nature’s grand finale, with OktoberFest at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden — a day filled with live music, games and prizes, all included in Garden admission. Where: Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, Richmond. 

Harvest Festival and Fly In! Oct 27, 10 am - 4 pm. Bring your kids for "trick or treat" aviation style! See the Shannon Air Museum, Watch the amazing pilots and planes and their gravity defying air show. Learn about the Redtail Squadron, the Spirit of Freedom C-54, Profiles of Honor mobile WWI and WWII history exhibit. Montpelier Wine Trail Fall Festival. Oct 27, 12 - 5 pm. Join us at Wilderness Run Vineyard for the First Fall Festival for the Montpelier Wine Trail. Belvedere Plantation Fall Festival Finale. Nov 2 (5 - 10 pm), Nov 3 (10 am - 5 pm). It's your last chance to visit Belvedere Plantation before we close for the winter! And we have a great line-up of entertainment and activities — don’t miss our new Pumpkin Smash competition! Reduced Farm Admission! Caledon Art & Wine Festival. Nov 3 (10 am - 4 pm) & Nov 4 (11 am - 4 pm). Enjoy a fall day at the park and see what the area's finest artisans have to offer. Get a jump on holiday shopping. Taste wine from local wineries. A commemorative wine glass is included with the price of tasting. Great food will also be for sale. The picnic shelter, gift shop and visitor center will be open, and hay wagon rides will be available for the kids. Live raptor show! Belvedere Plantation. Sept 22- Nov 3. Saturdays 10am-10pm & Sundays 10am-6pm. Friday evenings 5-10pm (Pumpkin Patch lighted for night picking!) Weekdays: 10 am - 2 pm. This working farm celebrates the fall harvest time with pumpkin picking, bonfires, evening hayrides, and a cornfield maze! Other attractions include pedal tractors, pig races, a pumpkin mountain slide, barnyard animals, and the fun barn with giant rope swings. Food and other specialty items sold on the premises. Cows N Corn. Sept 15 - Oct 28, Weekends: Saturday 10am - 6 pm & Sunday 11 am - 6 pm. Join us down on the farm to select the perfect VA grown pumpkins, get lost in our huge corn maze (8 football fields) ride in the cow train, meet a cow, learn to make butter, laugh at Lily the cow puppet and her "farm show", bounce in the "MOO" Bounce and be sure to take the hayride tour around the farm. Round Hill Farm. Opens Oct 6 - 31. Weekdays: 3:30 - 6 pm; Weekends: 10 am - 5 pm. A tractor-drawn hayride carries your family or group to the Pumpkin Patch. Pick-your-own or select from pre-picked pumpkins at the farms open-air market. Other activities include the barnyard petting-zoo with more than 30 farm animals, two hay bale mazes, a corn maze, zip line, face painting, rope swings, pony rides, and picnic area.
