Maymont Mansion Holiday Tours. 12 - 5 pm. Celebrate the season at Maymont and revel in Victorian holiday splendor! Major and Mrs. Dooley's spectacularly decorated Gilded Age home brings the wonders and festivities of Christmas past to life. Beautiful trimmings on the 12-foot Christmas tree, the opulent dining room set for a feast, evergreen decorations and lavish gifts welcome the season in grand Victorian style. In the Belowstairs area, preparations are underway to make the Dooleys' first Christmas in their new home special for their family and friends – and to put everyone in the holiday spirit! Illuminate Light Show & Santa's Village. Daily through Jan 1 . Nightly, 5:30 - 10 pm. As you drive through the park you will experience hundreds of thousands of LED lights synchronized to music from your car radio. The show features an 80-foot tunnel of lights, 50-foot Christmas trees, dancing snowmen and festive decorations. After the show, spend some time in Santa's Village. Mt. Vernon by Candlelight. Dec 2, 3, 10, 11 & 18. 5 - 8 pm. Join the estate for candlelit character-guided tours of the first and second floors of the Mansion, 18th-century dancing and fireside caroling. On the final stop of the Mansion tour, guests will hear about Washington's holiday cooking and see a reproduction of Martha’s Great Cake. “Mrs. Washington” and Aladdin the Christmas camel will also be on site. Zoo Lights. Nightly, through Jan 1 (Closed Dec 24, 25, 31). 5 - 9 pm. Join the thousands of visitors who make ZooLights a part of their annual holiday tradition. Christmas @ Mt. Vernon. Through - Jan 6. 9 am - 4 pm. Visit George Washington’s estate and see Aladdin the camel on the grounds, in honor of the camel that Washington paid to visit Mount Vernon in 1787. Stroll through the estate during the Christmas season and see sparkling holiday decorations, featuring 12 dazzling Christmas trees, and historical chocolate-making demonstrations. Night Before Christmas Hayride. Dec 2, 9, 11, 16, 17, 18, & 22. Times vary. Bring a warm blanket, your singing voice and sense of humor. We will sing holiday songs, while taking a wagon ride through the winter woods. After the ride we will return to the visitor center for hot chocolate and a reading of the classic holiday story, T'was the Night Before Christmas. Reservations are required. Christmas Illuminations @ Mt. Vernon. Dec 16, 17. 5:30 - 9 pm. Join Mount Vernon for an evening of family-friendly fun and fireworks choreographed to holiday music. Take a stroll through the estate while being serenaded by local choirs, visit with re-enactors from the First Virginia Regiment in winter encampment, and learn 18th-century dance moves from costumed guides in the Greenhouse. “George and Martha Washington” will also be on site to greet Mount Vernon’s holiday guests. Watch as colonial artisans demonstrate the 18th-century process of creating chocolate. Keep toasty by warming up by a bonfire, visiting the blacksmith shop, or enjoying some hot chocolate or cider. Snowball Fight: Elementary. Dec 26. 6 - 8 pm. Elementary school children ages (K-4th grade) are invited to join the fun! Rent your full bucket of snowballs for $5 admission. Return your full bucket at the end of the evening. We are hosting 15 minute snowball fights with a 5 minute intermission. Downtown 31 Finale Event. Dec 31. 5 -9 pm. Where: Riverfront Park and Market Square in downtown F'burg. Live Music and Dancing, Teen Area, Children’s Area, Games & Activities, Food Vendors, Snow Maze, Burn regrets and share new resolutions. Family-friendly, alcohol-free event with an early countdown to 9:00pm. Ping Pong Ball Drop at 9:00pm will drop 3,000+ ping pong balls including 100+ winning prize balls.

New Year's Eve Family Frolic. Dec 31. 2 - 5 pm. Enjoy fun family activities all afternoon! Live music, "rolling in the New Year" and more! Cost: Regular Garden Admission. Those who attend the New Year's Eve Family Frolic and who are already in the Garden can stay to attend Dominion GardenFest of Lights (5 -10 p.m.)

New Year's Eve @ Celebrate Virginia After Dark. Dec 31. 7 pm. Bring in the New year in a completely new style for our area. Trains, Planes and Automobiles Kids' Race Series


From a small beginning, Cathy Weise of the Ron Rosner YMCA has developed an ambitious three-race series for kids for this summer, with the help of The Great Train Race, Shannon Airport, Dominion Raceway & Entertainment, the Fredericksburg Area Service League and Race Timing Unlimited.

Great Train Race Director Jennifer Taylor was one of the first on board.
