Do your kids drink fruit juice? How about fruit-infused water instead! Unlike fruit juice, which has empty sugar calories, fruit-infused water is a low-calorie, refreshing way to beat the summer heat. Simply slice up your favorite fruit, add it to a pitcher, and fill with water. Chill in the refrigerator and add more water as you drink, letting the fruit infuse the fresh water. Add other flavors like herbs, ginger and lemongrass. See my blog to see pictures of my favorite fruit water combinations.

The Doctor Yum Project offers a FREE shopping class at two area grocery stores. The class is aimed at showing families how to get organized and save money while preparing healthy recipes. Once a season we offer our "Cooking Adventure" for kids age 7-12. Kids enjoy nutrition lessons, tastings, cooking skills and preparation of plant-based recipes.

Information on our classes and a collection of kid-tested recipes is available at www.doctoryum.com.
