From Our YMCA Water Park Membership Winner ~

staphanie_manaladoBeing new to the area, I quickly made the decision to find a resource to help me get to know the Fredericksburg area. I happened upon a copy of Fredericksburg Parent and Family at my children's school and was thrilled by all the information it provided to a newbie like me. I have since used the website on multiple occasions to find fun things to do with my kiddies and was even lucky enough to win one of the many giveaways!! We are so excited for our first summer in Fredericksburg and know just where to go to get some awesome places to visit!!

A little about me... I am a 37 year old mother of 3. We moved to Fredericksburg in October 2010 after living in NJ for most of my life. My husband and I were married in August of 2008 and were blessed with a baby boy in April 2009 (2 months premature and quite an ordeal!!). My hubby adopted my 2 children from my first marriage last summer and shortly thereafter we decided to move here to Virginia for my husband's job. It was a fresh start for our family and one I am thankful for everyday. I am new to the stay at home mom thing having been laid off from my job of 14 years shortly after giving birth to our son in 2009. I am so grateful for the friendships I have made and for the kindness and good fortune I have found here.

Thank You Fredericksburg Family & Parent and the Massad YMCA!

Pouches Visits the Past

HistoryCamp

If Pouches' experience at History Camp is any indication, your son or daughter will enjoy joining Washington Heritage Museums and the George Washington Foundation for History Camp in Fredericksburg. The week-long day camp will be held June 25-29, from 9:00 a.m. to noon each day.

Young historians discover American history with hands-on experiences as they walk in the footsteps where the history of Fredericksburg, and a budding America, was created. The camp complements the history taught in classrooms with activities such as soap making, code breaking, colonial crafts, penmanship and much more.
