On September 21 and 22, Fredericksburg's Riverfront Park and surrounding downtown streets comes alive with entertainment, an artist's market, children's activities and hundreds of local artists at work during Fredericksburg's annual street painting festival –Via Colori®.

via-bambiniVia Colori® is the modern day version of a centuries-old tradition in which dozens of volunteer artists create large scale pastel artworks directly on the pavement of our city's streets.

This year, thanks to The Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center, Minnieland Academy and FredParent. young visitors can make their own Via Colori® drawings in the "Via Bambini" area located at the corner of Charlotte and Sophia Streets. Local artists will be on hand to instruct the youngsters on how to make their own street art. This area of the festival allows for a rich and fun learning experience for all of the budding artists in attendance. Via Bambini will also include fun free activities, including crafts, face painting, games and contests among the offerings.

Pouches Visits the Past

HistoryCamp

If Pouches' experience at History Camp is any indication, your son or daughter will enjoy joining Washington Heritage Museums and the George Washington Foundation for History Camp in Fredericksburg. The week-long day camp will be held June 25-29, from 9:00 a.m. to noon each day.

Young historians discover American history with hands-on experiences as they walk in the footsteps where the history of Fredericksburg, and a budding America, was created. The camp complements the history taught in classrooms with activities such as soap making, code breaking, colonial crafts, penmanship and much more.
