Its pool season, so it's time to be EXTRA VIGILANT!

 

This article is a must read for all parents. The Instinctive Drowning Response can be VERY misleading and EASILY go unnoticed. Drowning is the No. 2 cause of accidental death in children, ages 15 and under (just behind vehicle accidents) and in 50 percent of child drownings, adults are nearby; in 10 percent of those, adults are watching but do not know the victim is drowning. Parents, it's too easy to get carried away socializing with another parent at the pool or closing your eyes to enjoy the warmth of the sun. Drowning happens faster than you think! Pouches Visits the Past

HistoryCamp

If Pouches' experience at History Camp is any indication, your son or daughter will enjoy joining Washington Heritage Museums and the George Washington Foundation for History Camp in Fredericksburg. The week-long day camp will be held June 25-29, from 9:00 a.m. to noon each day.

Young historians discover American history with hands-on experiences as they walk in the footsteps where the history of Fredericksburg, and a budding America, was created. The camp complements the history taught in classrooms with activities such as soap making, code breaking, colonial crafts, penmanship and much more.
