Teacher Appreciation Day and Educator Open House
Calling all Virginia educators: let us help you make this year’s field trip fun, engaging and educational … aka the best field trip ever!
Virginia educators (preschool, K-12, homeschool, public, private) are invited to join us for an open house to learn more about Science Museum of Virginia field trips that will leave a lasting impression on students and spark curiosity back in the classroom and at home.
Bring your immediate family and enjoy the Museum’s four floors of interactive exhibits, labs, theater and makerspace on us. Yes, you read that correctly, on Teacher Appreciation Day, educators and their immediate family (same household) get in FREE!
Members of our education team will be on hand all morning to talk through our Field Trip Guide, answer field trip questions, explain the live science domes and give you the scoop on how to take your field trips to the next level. And there might even be some fun science SWAG giveways (wink wink)!
Plus, you get the chance to see our newest touring exhibition “Giant Insects” featuring … well … giant insects! In addition to the six huge robotic insects, there are interactive stations to learn about how bugs eat, camouflage, produce sounds and more. And, of course, there are live arthopods in the exhibition, including tarantulas, a vinegaroon, millipedes, beetles, hissing cockroaches and two types of crabs.
You don’t need to register–just show up with your school ID or HEAV paperwork and we will get you checked in.
