1st Day Hike @ Widewater State Park-Winter @ Widewater
Long before Captain John Smith explored the area, the Patawomeck Native Americans inhabited the area for centuries. Join us as we explore the 1 mile Long Pond Trail and learn how they used their environment to survive harsh and cold winters. Participants will end their hike at our Patawomeck Village where they can warm up by the bonfire, roast a marshmallow and try their hand at making rope from plants like the Native Americans did.
This hike will be about 1 mile round trip over easy trails and paved road. Pets are welcome, but please keep them on a leash no longer than 6 feet. It is a good idea to dress for the weather and wear sturdy walking/hiking shoes. Don’t forget to bring your camera!
