Rain in Style

Who says you have to pay a fortune for fashion? Not this girl. In fact, I’d like to introduce you to the love of my life, ThredUP (sorry husband). ThredUP is an online thrift store where you can find clothing, shoes and accessory items for well below retail. It is super easy. Y’all, there’s even an app! Oh, don’t worry, I will give you some tips at the end of the article, but for now, let’s get our wardrobes ready for fall with ThredUP.

Fall is my favorite season; my smile gets brighter as soon as the leaves start changing. Even though, here in Virginia, fall can mean 40 degrees in the morning then 298 degrees by the afternoon. Am I right?!?!? But at least we still get the beautiful fall foliage and pumpkin spice lattes...and of course cute fall outfits. Here are some of my favorite fall outfits, using head to toe amazing ThredUP finds. Oh, and those booties in the outfit above? They are my favorites by Sam Edelman ($35.99 on ThredUP, est retail $140).

Easily turn a romper into a fall outfit by adding a faux leather jacket and booties. Here’s a Romeo & Juliet Couture romper ($43.99 On ThredUP, est. retail $162), with two different jackets. The burgundy is Black Rivet ($16.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $48) and the olive one is Blanc Noir ($19.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $158). Grab a pair of open toe booties ( these are Wild Diva $15.99 on ThredUP) and a coordinating bag (both of these are from ThredUP). The brown one is Nine West ($31.99 on ThredUP and est. retail $89).

Nothing says fall more than plaid...well, plaid and pumpkins. Throw a plaid shirt on with jeans, booties and an anorak jacket and you’ve just become the queen of easy fall fashion. But don’t stop there...Tie one on over a dress or tuck it into a skirt. This plaid shirt is by my favorite brand, Rails ($16.99 On ThredUP, est retail $89). It’s light weight which makes it easy to layer and tie. This anorak style jacket is by Topshop, another favorite brand ($24.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $90). American Eagle skinny jeggings - love them in a mid-high rise, ($16.99 On ThredUP, est. retail $50). Betsey Johnson bag ($33.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $118).

Better yet, take that olive anorak style jacket and wear it with all the things. Seriously All.The.Things. This is the same Topshop jacket. The outfit on the left has a Pixley top ($11.99 on ThredUP, est retail $45), American Eagle skinny jeggings ($16.99 On ThredUP, est. retail $50), and the same Wild Diva booties, because I love them. On the right is an Aqua cold shoulder pull over sweater ($36.99 on ThredUp, est retail $190), JBrand skinny jeans ($35.99 on ThredUP, est retail $189), Betsey Johnson bag ($33.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $118) and Vince Camuto booties, a favorite brand, ($37.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $95).

Booties, booties, booties... it’s not fall without booties. Not only do booties make up some of my favorite outfits, they are also pretty versatile. If they come up taller on your leg, try tucking skinny jeans into them (you will see me do this a lot, just make sure the jeans are tight at the ankle). If they are lower, then roll your jeans just slightly above the bootie. Wear closed toe booties with tights and a skirt for chillier days, then if it warms up, lose the tights...because guess what? Booties still look great either way! You go, booties! My favorite faux leather jacket is this black one by BlankNYC ($26.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $107). The burgundy dress is Charlotte Russe ($9.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $24.99). Booties are Steve Madden ($34.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $95).  Clutch is also from ThredUP.

Skinny jeans...my love for thee runs deep. Keep your eye out for JBrand, Hudson, Adriano Goldschmied and American Eagle, all my favorite denim brands. These two outfits both use American Eagle skinny jeans ($16.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $50) and Wild Diva booties.  The jacket on the left is Black Rivet ($16.99 On ThredUP, est. retail $48).  One of my favorite brands EVER, especially for jackets, is BlankNYC...the jacket on the right is by them ($26.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $107.)  Also my Pixley top ($11.99 on ThredUP, est retail $45) and Betsey Johnson bag ($33.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $118)

Maxi dresses are also great for fall, when you add a jacket over top, or even tie a button down shirt over. Tart makes some really comfortable maxi dresses. The dress on the left is by Tart ($21.99 on ThredUP, est retail $185). Keep an eye out for that brand. This chambray shirt is Buffalo by David Bitton ($16.99 on ThredUP, est retail $71.) My bag is Betsey Johnson ($33.99 on ThredUP, est. retail $118) and booties are Wild Diva ($15.99 on ThredUP.)  The outfit on the right, is a Forever 21 maxi dress, H&M denim jacket, my favorite Talbots round straw bag, bought new with tags ($50 on ThredUP, retail $108).  I used the same Wild Diva booties ($15.99 on ThredUP).

So, what do you think? Are you ready to try ThredUP and save some money? Awesome! Here are some tips. Get the app, it’s easy to use. Save your sizes and filter by them. Save your searches, so you can easily check for your favorite brands in your size. On a desktop computer, you can save searches and ThredUP will notify you when new arrivals are added. In the app, click in the search bar and it will bring up things that you have searched for before. I have Yumi Kim saved and my sizes saved so when I click on the brand in the search box, it brings up what’s available in my sizes. So very easy. Don't forget to check often, as there are always new arrivals. ThredUp is really good about listing the condition of the items in the description, so check that. Although, they are usually pretty good at only selling items that are in very good condition. Returns are super easy through their website. Check the box of what you are returning, print off your return label, pack it back into the same box it came in, and send it in the mail. I always choose the "return for store credit" option, because, let's face it...I will use it no problem. If you choose that option return shipping is free. Don't forget to check the handbags and shoes sections; those are my favorite!

And, what’s even better than shopping tips?? A shopping discount!! Use this special discount code, parents25, and get 25% off for the first 300 new ThredUP customers. It expires August 26th. Go. Shop. Now!!! Thank you ThredUP! I hope all of you will take advantage of this discount. It's a great deal! Let me know if you do, and tell me what you find! Happy thrifting, ladies.
