Going a little stir crazy at home and need some suggestions for to create own at-home summer camp? Here’s Fred Parent’s top 10 suggestions to make Summer at home that much more fun.
Make a flexible schedule. A sanity saver is creating a flexible schedule; a daily routine that blocks time for play, outdoor time, digital time, meals and quiet time.
Plan it out. You can choose one day of the week to focus on or fill them all. For example: Water Wednesdays or Foodie Fridays.
Choose an activity that your child/ren enjoy and create a camp from the interest. Music, Science, Sports, Art–go with a favorite hobby or past time and build from there.
Sign the kids up for a Vacation Bible School. Many of the VBS require pre-registration so don’t delay.
Visit a Pick Your Own Farm. PYO are the place to be for farm-fresh goodness and fun.
Participate in the library’s summer reading program. Its virtual!
Limited to no pool access this summer? Bring the water home. Grab a kiddie pool, water table or sprinkler combined with water toys and let the little ones have fun in the sun.
Backyard camp-out anyone? National Campout Day is June 22.
