Some people believe Christmas is the best time of year. Others swear by summer. There are a sizable number of folks, however, that are completely smitten with autumn. Namely, October. It’s an entire month filled with crisp air, sweaters, knobby pumpkins, savory and sweet baked goods, hayrides and kettle corn. If there’s one place in Fredericksburg that incorporates all that to perfection, it’s Belvedere Plantation.
Belvedere Plantation was voted a 2016 Fred Parent Family Favorite in our “Seasonal Activity” category. Did you know that Belvedere Plantation is also a working farm? This 645-acre heritage farm was built in the 1760s and grows grain crops, such as corn, wheat and soybeans, in addition to its beloved pumpkins. During its yearly harvest festival, the farm becomes part pumpkin patch, part fall-themed amusement park. Activities include: pumpkin picking, zip lines, a straw jump, pumpkin cannon, pumpkin mountain slide, extreme pedal carts, barrel train, pony rides, flower cutting, bonfires, evening hayrides, a cornfield maze, restaurant, and over 25 other attractions and activities. Belvedere Plantation also hosts birthday parties, field trips and group events.
The harvest festival is open on weekends and some weekdays from September 24 – November 5. To get a schedule complete with hours of operation, visit belvedereplantation.com/fall-fun/
