Keep up seasonal eating even in the winter months. Winter squash, leafy greens, broccoli and root vegetables are all harvested in cold weather. Use this seasonal produce in warm wintery recipes like soups, stews and casseroles.
The Doctor Yum Project is now offering FREE shopping classes at two area grocery stores. The class is aimed at showing families how to get organized and save money while preparing healthy recipes. In February we are offering our winter “Cooking Adventure” for kids age 7-12 and our spring class will be offered in May. Kids enjoy nutrition lessons, tastings, cooking skills and preparation of plant-based recipes. Stay tuned for a teen class, too!
We are looking for volunteers. Dieticians and mental health providers are needed to help us launch an Obesity support group for families called “Project Share.” We will need plenty of volunteers for our spring fun run, too!
