It's official! We have just 31 days until spring! With how ghastly cold it was over the weekend and snow on the ground, that seems hard to believe. We promise though, Spring will be here! The air will be warm, flowers will bloom, and energetic little ones will be able to run around outside all afternoon. Today, we thought we’d share our ten favorite ways to get us through the rest of winter… and no, they don’t require a plane ticket to the tropics.
Top Ten Ways To Bring A Little Spring Into Winter.
1Go Play! Get your blood pumping and learn a new skill. Try indoor dodge ball or soccer at The Fredericksburg Field House, swim some laps at your gym's indoor pool, or sweat like crazy during a hot yoga class. It will keep your mind and body occupied until you can play outside. PS… Finding a class you like and look forward to every week is half the battle. Try more than one kind of class and bring a friend!
Paint your nails a bright color. It may be grey and miserable outside, but your coral toes are asking for a Mai Tai. Find a nail color that makes you smile every time you look at it.
Bring home an $8 bouquet of flowers. Noting fancy. Just a little sunshine for your table.
Put on your favorite Spring or Summer outfit and then toss on some layers. Leggings, a summery dress, and a cardigan can totally go together!
Go on a long walk when the temps are above freezing. A healthy amount of sunlight does wonders for your mood. It can be difficult to get adequate sunlight in the wintertime, so do your best to get outside when you can.
Host a soup swap. It’s like grilling out with your friends except you’re inside and you're having soup. Have everyone bring a different soup to share at the get-together. Pass around recipes via email or Facebook afterwards.
Not a fan of soup? How about a game night? We’re not talking Chutes and Ladders. There are lots of new, modern games these days that require strategy and creativity to win. Try Settlers Of Cataan or Pandemic. We hear they’re addictive!
Start planning your garden or mini garden. No yard? No problem! Try windowsill gardening or container gardening. Check out our “Home and Garden” Pinterest board for more ideas.
Have a Karaoke night. Sing out load and sing proud! It’s good for the soul. We don’t even care if you’re on key as long as you’re having fun. Bonus points if you’re singing a summer jam!
Start planning summer camp and vacations. Think it’s too early? Think again! No need to feel overwhelmed, though. We have an awesome summer camp list to get you started
