A Pregnancy Moment

New moms learn from each other’s experiences. FredParent invites you to share a special pregnancy moment, a birth experience, or a memory from the first few months of your baby's life. Late in my eighth month of pregnancy, which just happened to be in August, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, I decided that a short stroll down to the farmer’s market at Hurkamp Park would be a nice way to spend the afternoon. As I waddled past my neighbor Mrs. Walker’s house, she came out on the porch and said “What are you doing? It is too hot for you to be outside!”

I laughed merrily and reassured her that I was only going three blocks and would be just fine. Half an hour later I was half way home, close to heat exhaustion and very, very worried I was going to go into labor on the open street. Just as I started to black out, a car pulled up beside me, the window rolled down, and Mrs. Walker leaned out…

”GET IN THIS CAR” she said.

All time favorite memory.

Lesson Learned? Listen to your wise elderly neighbor.
