Featuring Run For Food 5K and A Paws in Time Dog Walk

CVTV's launch Party
Our Mission: Giving the communities of Central Virginia programs with purpose, meaning and excellence, through the voice of Public Access Television

1. Visit CVTV Booths promoting shows and hosts that will be reporting and interviewing people in Central Virginia.
2. Some shows will be shot at the day's events at the Fredericksburg Fair Grounds.
3. CVTV will be covering the Run For Food 5 k the first time in it's history.
4. CVTV will be on hand to film A Paws in Time, Dog walk..
5. Interviews with representatives from different organizations that are part of the Day
6. CVTV's Day long concert series will host some of the best and freshest talent in the region as well.
7. Bouncy houses, Gyro's, Face painting for kids of all ages.
8. We are working on getting some Surprise celebrities.
9. Local Food vendors from different franchises will be out to serve food at a reasonable cost.

Day to Serve
Our Mission: A Regional Collaboration of Local Businesses and Civic Organizations working with the Fredericksburg Inter Faith Church Community providing opportunities for people around the region to gather and serve in one location for many in need.

1. Providing Service Project Stations where kids of all ages can serve in their community for a short periods of time or longer.
2. Some of the Service Project Stations that day will include
• Safe harbor
• The Red Cross
• Empower House
• The Homeless Shelter in Fredericksburg
• Old Dominion Humane Society
• Fredericksburg SPCA
To name a few
3. Run For Food 5K (Beneficiary is Fredericksburg Area Food Bank)
• 2013 5K run Brought in 42,717 lbs of food, the 3rd largest in the region
• The registration fee as always is one can of food per runner.
• This year we are adding Team competition: largest Group & Most food brought to donate.
• Medals will be given to Men's and Women's 1st, 2nd & 3rd place over all
• Trophies 1st, 2nd & 3rd place given to teams for largest group, largest amount of food brought to donate at the run.
• Goals for 2014 5k Run: 2,000 runners & 60,000lbs of food to donate to The Fredericksburg Area Food Bank.
4. A Paws In Time, Dog Walk (Beneficiary is The Fredericksburg SPCA)
• One Mile walk in the fair grounds
• Dogs and owner can dress up in costumes that span time from stone age to present. Costumes are optional. All dogs must have proof of current shots and friendly in crowds.
• Registration fee one can or bag of dry pet food that will be donated to the Fred SPCA
• Medals 1st,2nd & 3rd place medals on dog bandanas will be given with possibly other prizes for costumes.
5. Pet-icures: Bring your dog in to get his/her nails clipped, Fee is one can or bag of pet food that will go to either Old Dominion Humane Society or Stafford SPCA.

6. Puppy Recall: Bring your puppy 4-6 month old and see who comes when called first. There will be several heats to narrow it down to the top 3 winners. Entrance fee is one can or bag of food that will go to Old Dominion Humane Society or Stafford SPCA
All Dogs must show current shot records and be friendly around other dogs and people. Dogs not able to be around other dogs will be asked to not participate in the event.

Pouches' Community Corner

Adoptive parents in Fredericksburg now have a new partner on their journey to a healthy family. In 2016, Children’s Home Society was awarded a $125,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Social Services to extend their Richmond area post-adoptive services to the Fredericksburg area.

Now CHS is looking to find adoptive families in the area who need support before they hit a crisis point. “It doesn’t matter which agency they adopted from, or when that happened,” said Buckheit. “We want to offer a lifetime of support to adoptive families in the Fredericksburg area, especially those who haven’t been aware of our services in the past.”
