About Helping Children Worldwide
The mission of Helping Children Worldwide is to transform the lives of impoverished children. The two major operations of this organization are the Child Rescue Center (CRC) and Mercy Hospital, located in Bo, Sierra Leone, Africa.
The CRC got its start in 2000 to rescue war orphans forced to live in the streets. Over time, the mission of the CRC has changed—its vision today is to improve the lives of children by repatriating survivors of child trafficking and forced child labor into self-sufficient, nurturing families.
Located near the CRC, Mercy hospital works to provide essential medical care to the local community. They provide emergency care for sick children, and help mothers safely deliver their babies. Mercy hospital provides community education programs for HIV/AIDS, malaria, prenatal care, and nutrition. The health workers of Mercy hospital take their services out into the villages to thousands of people every year who walk miles for the opportunity for medical care.
Ebenezer UMC is a partner church in Helping Children Worldwide.
You can help protect some of the most at-risk kids in one of the poorest countries in the world, while promoting fitness and a sense of community right here at home. We need your running feet on October 12. If you don't want to run, you can "Relax for Bo," by simply registering for the event and staying home.
By participating in this event, not only can you help save children from child trafficking and help provide essential medical care to those in need -- you can enjoy great food and fellowship. This is the only 5k event in the area that also features a full pancake breakfast afterward.
