Blue Sky Puppet Theatre: Three (not so) Little Pigs. Watch as the three (not so little) pigs give a lesson on sibling rivalry and sharing. Mrs. Pig forces her boys to venture out and join the real world. You'll be amused as you see them encounter many obstacles, including the vegetarian big bad wolf. History at Sunset 2008. History at Sunset is a series of Friday evening walking tours on the Fredericksburg area battlefields. All programs are free and begin at 7 p.m. Except for the last one, the programs are 1 1/2 hours in length. Wear good walking shoes. July 4: No program—Holiday. July 11: First Blood at Chancellorsville: A Walk on the May 1 Battlefield. Led by Historian Eric Mink. Gather at the Civil War Preservation Trust lands on Route 3 west, about 1/4 mile west of Chancellor Elementary School. July 18: Through the Streets, Into the Maelstrom: In the Footsteps of a Union Regiment. Led by Historian Frank O’Reilly. Meet at the city dock at the south end of Sophia Street in Fredericksburg. Ferry Farm’s Fabulous Fourth of July. Be part of the celebration!!! Talk with George Washington at the place where he grew up! Interact with other first-person interpreters as they perform 18th-century tasks. Re-enactors will be demonstrating blacksmithing, cooking, and sword fighting. Thrill to the talents of slack-rope walker and acrobat Signora Bella as she demonstrates this colonial-era entertainment. Play games that span 5 centuries. Make crafts to take home. Decode secrets in the spy tent. Relax and enjoy the bluegrass sounds of The Corn Family Old-Time String Band. Cool off in a misting tent. Put your signature on the Declaration of Independence. There will also be cannon firings, speeches, and a 13-gun salute to honor our original states. Enjoy a variety of good old-fashioned Fourth of July food from our vendors.There will be limited parking on site but trolleys will run to and from Fredericksburg between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. (last trolley departs Ferry Farm at 3 p.m.). Heritage Festival
A traditional family Fourth of July celebration throughout the region with a runner's race, parade, craft show, antique auto show, live entertainment, children's activities, and great food, all crowned with a fireworks display, 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Caroline St, F'burg. The Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center is pleased to announce that it will take part in this year's Heritage Festival in Downtown Fredericksburg. All day during the Heritage Festival, children can visit FAMCC at the Red Barn on Sophia Street to participate in various activities and crafts. There will be a small charge for FAMCC crafts and activities to support operating costs associated with the Museum's education programs. Festival admission is free from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Fredericksburg Area Museum & Cultural Center (FAMCC) First Saturday at the Museum. Free public concert series. Concerts presented in downtown F'burg's historic Market Square, located directly behind the Museum's Town Hall site at the corner of Princess Anne and William streets. Usually held on the first Friday of each month - Saturday for July due to the 4th festivities) May through October 2008. On each of the series dates, the Museum will offer free admission from 5:00 to 9:00 pm and a free concert from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. Food will be available for purchase in the Square.

Summer Children's Workshop: The War Comes Home. Museum educators will discuss The War Comes Home and how 19th century children participated in supporting the efforts of soldiers during the Civil War. Children will have an opportunity to write letters and create care packages that will be sent to some of today's soldiers. The event begins at 10 AM and happens in Market Square behind the museum. FREE. The Fredericksburg Area Museum & Cultural Center's mission is to collect, interpret and present the history of the Fredericksburg region. All Summer Children's Workshop programs begin promptly at 10 a.m., are free of charge and are held in Fredericksburg's historic Market Square, located directly behind the Museum at the corner of Princess Anne and William streets. History at Sunset 2008. History at Sunset is a series of Friday evening walking tours on the Fredericksburg area battlefields. All programs are free and begin at 7 p.m. Except for the last one, the programs are 1 1/2 hours in length. Wear good walking shoes.
