The Sweet Life

It was not until my son turned three that I finally began to feel like I could maybe get back to my hobby of baking once again.  But as for being the perfect wife and mother:  I'm just not sure that is possible.  If it is, I'm not there yet.  Items to check off my list in order to fit that goal:  lose baby weight; make more time for my gorgeous hubby; make him feel like I'm thinking only about him even if I'm pondering whether to throw in a load of laundry now or wait until the morning; be more patient with my beautiful children; try to make my husband feel that he is not in third place in my priority list..(hubby seems to be a theme I really need to work on!); join a gym; make a schedule of dinners so there is no debate about it; cook the same meal for everyone...long shot but it would be nice; upon my husband's constant urging, try to find a regular babysitter...writing this list is getting depressing so I'll stop with that.

Anyway, you get the point, I'm neither the perfect wife nor mother but I can bake the heck out of a cake and getting to finally make my children's birthday cakes has been a source of great joy for this imperfect mom!  In the coming posts I look forward to sharing more of my life as a mom and as a creator of delicious (if I do say so myself!) and beautiful (see the photos and judge for yourself!) confections.  You can see more of them at

About Ameeta

Moms of the world...we're in the kitchen all the time so why not make it fun...RIGHT?! After working in the field of higher education for over a decade, I decided to stay home. Being here is wonderful (sometimes!). BUT, I love the invaluable (read crazy but good) moments with my children. One thing I miss about work is having a creative outlet. Decorating cakes and cookies gives me that focus for my creativity. It's therapeutic to work on cakes, cookies and the like. As you will understand, with two young children, lots of therapy is necessary! Hence I've been baking more and more....and in my blog I'll be sharing my culinary adventures with you with a side serving of raising my two kids! Adoptive parents in Fredericksburg now have a new partner on their journey to a healthy family. In 2016, Children’s Home Society was awarded a $125,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Social Services to extend their Richmond area post-adoptive services to the Fredericksburg area.

Now CHS is looking to find adoptive families in the area who need support before they hit a crisis point. “It doesn’t matter which agency they adopted from, or when that happened,” said Buckheit. “We want to offer a lifetime of support to adoptive families in the Fredericksburg area, especially those who haven’t been aware of our services in the past.”
