Tasty Bites and Cozy Vibes at Spotsylvania’s Basilico New York Deli and Italian Market

Basilico New York Deli and Italian Market at Harrison Crossing in Spotsylvania is a charming yet bustling café. It feels welcoming the moment you walk in although it’s the larger of the two spots in town with the other location sitting off Cowan Boulevard in Fredericksburg.

Where Comfort Meets Flavor

With its European-style miniature minivan stocked with cookies and packaged treats and greenery suspended overhead, the Basilico at Harrison Crossing feels like a little hidden gem. The café offers a cozy fireplace, perfect for those winter visits. Over the years, I’ve spent many hours sitting by the fire reading, working and tackling personal tasks. And when the temperature climbs above 65 degrees, their Tuscany-style patio is the perfect place to enjoy a meal outdoors with friends.

A Taste of Basilico

I ordered the Citrus Chicken, a flavorful dish paired with rice and sautéed vegetables. The chicken arrived fresh and juicy. Its subtle golden glaze hinted at its zesty flavor. The veggies, tossed in a light citrus sauce, enhanced the crunch of the squash, carrots and broccoli. Perfectly cooked rice brought all the flavors together.

For dessert, I splurged on a Lobster Tail pastry with crispy layers of pastry paired perfectly with the ooey-gooey cream inside, creating a rich and sweet treat. Fresh fruit on top added brightness to both the flavor and presentation. 

Good pastries aren’t easy to find, making Basilico a spot to remember whether for a special occasion or just because.

Would we recommend? Absolutely. Bring your favorite book, settle in, and enjoy good food, great pastries, and a welcoming atmosphere you’ll want to return to again and again.
